2. About EmojiKit

EmojiKit is a free, open-source emoji database and search engine that provides information about emojis, including their Unicode data, cross-platform renders, and contextual descriptions. Our services include a web interface for browsing and copying emojis, AI-powered emoji search, an emoji translator, an emoji kitchen feature for discovering combinations, and a REST API for developers.

3. Content Licensing

EmojiKit provides information about emojis, which are standardized by the Unicode Consortium. Important licensing details:

• Emoji Characters: Emojis are characters defined by the Unicode Standard. The emoji characters themselves are part of the Unicode Standard and are not owned by EmojiKit. The Unicode Consortium makes these characters available under their licensing terms.
• Platform Renders: Visual representations of emojis vary by platform (Apple, Google, Samsung, etc.) and are owned by their respective companies. EmojiKit displays these renders for informational and comparison purposes under fair use.
• EmojiKit Content: Original content created by EmojiKit — including descriptions, tag groupings, collection curation, and AI-generated content — is provided for personal and commercial use with attribution. We appreciate a link back to emojikit.app when our data is used in published works.
• Twemoji Images: Where we display Twemoji renders, these are provided by Mozilla under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

4. API Usage Terms

EmojiKit provides a free API for developers. By using the EmojiKit API, you agree to the following terms:

• Rate Limits: Free tier API keys are limited to 10,000 requests per day. Rate limits are subject to change with reasonable notice.
• Attribution:While not required, we appreciate attribution when using our API in your projects. A simple "Powered by EmojiKit" with a link to emojikit.app is greatly appreciated.
• Prohibited Uses: You may not use the API to build a competing emoji database service, resell our data without modification, or use the API in ways that could harm our service (including excessive requests, automated scraping beyond the API, or attempts to circumvent rate limits).
• API Key Security: You are responsible for keeping your API key secure. If you believe your key has been compromised, contact us immediately at boostwindow@gmail.com.
• Service Availability: We strive to maintain high uptime, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the API with reasonable notice.

5. User Conduct

When using EmojiKit, you agree not to:

• Use automated tools to scrape our website beyond what the API provides

7. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, EmojiKit and its contributors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use our service.
